Children need to understand that the food they eat are made from a hard painstaking process and that people have worked very hard to provide these food to them. You can teach them to be self sufficient by having a backyard poultry. Even if you live in the city, raising chickens is easier because you only need a small coop to put them in. This could be a very educational experience for your children.

Caring for a backyard poultry is easy so the children can learn it in no time at all. In the process of raising chickens, they will be able to know how to feed them and when to give them water. They will benefit from the responsibility of having to produce their own food and learn to become self sufficient as adults.
The lessons they will learn from this experience will be with them throughout their lives and help them become responsible adults in the future. Who knows, they might even become successful poultry farmers?
